What began in May 2022 came to a successful conclusion with strong outcomes. 🎯

ECOMAI stands for ‘Motor Control and Predictive Maintenance with AI’. This was our mission over the past three years. In our strong project ecosystem, we developed, framed and implemented use cases that:

▶️ develop technologies to enhance electric motor drive systems
▶️ embed artificial intelligence systems
▶️ run on a specialised AI hardware platform
to
🌱 reduce energy consumption and enable the development of more ‘ecological’ systems 🌿.

These ambitious goals have been translated into 13 (!) key performance indicators, which served as a lighthouse throughout the entire project cycle. Open collaboration among all consortium partners at a peer-to-peer level ensured that we stayed on track.

During the review meeting, we were pleased to report that we had successfully completed the KPIs, which spanned from simulations to physical prototypes.

The strong cooperation between industry partners and researchers from Technical University of Munich and Technische Universität Ilmenau was key to delivering these strong results.

Our demonstrators cover the range from simulation to physical prototypes, at the review meeting.

We thank:
✅ our PENTA reviewers, Vincent Le Meau (AENEAS Association) Thomas Fleischmann (Bosch) and Christian Wiebus (NXP Semiconductors) for accompanying us over the past three years.
FEAAM GmbH for hosting this review and leading us through their motor lab space.

A powerful ecosystem is built out of its diverse members. Photo taken at the review meeting at FEAAM on 11 September 2025.
